This program is FREE thanks to the generous support of Oklahoma Energy Resources Board.
Have you ever wondered how fossil fuels are formed, why they are found in Oklahoma, or how they are extracted and used in our everyday lives?

This is a free program for 3rd and 4th grade students who are interested to learn more about Oklahoma's natural gas industry.

Led by instructors from the STEAM Engine, and joined by professionals working in Oklahoma's oil and natural gas industry, this program will teach students the basics about fossils fuels and describe their importance to Oklahoma.

8 lessons explore questions like:
  • What is energy?
  • What are the uses of oil and gas?
  • How are oil and gas formed?
  • Where can we find oil and gas?
  • What are the properties of oil and gas?
  • How do we reach and remove petroleum from the Earth?

Wands and Wizards
Spring Break Camp-in-a-Box

Join us March 15-18 for a virtual Camp-in-a-Box experience that's sure to inspire even the simplest of Muggles.

Let your imagination run wild as we explore the magic behind the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math of your favorite wizard. From sorting hats to potions, charms to the care of magical creatures, come join us for an unforgettable spring break from the comfort of your own home.

Make your own light-up wand, discern your future with a custom mug and tea leaves, solve an age-old runic mystery, try your hand at caring for a magical garden and so much more. The week will culminate in a TriWizard Tournament to test your critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Witches and Wizards* will receive their very own camp-in-a-box to be used alongside Zoom calls that will meet twice each day (once in the morning and afternoon). Instructors will provide STEAM-inspired demonstrations while witches and wizards at home complete hands-on experiments, activities, and projects. Calls will last 60-90 minutes depending on participation.

Participation is limited to students ages 8-13 in the Oklahoma City metro area. The week before camp, an owl will deliver your camp-in-a-box to your porch. Make sure to keep it closed until we open it together during our first Zoom call on Monday at 10:00 am.
